Working with Voyant in the Digital Humanities

Voyant is a web-based text analysis tool that can help scholars find and understand textual patterns in a large corpus. There are a number of analysis tools that are offered with Voyant, including a trends graph and the ability to select keywords and see the context that they are used. This allows scholars to have more control over the textual analysis they're working on and have a deeper understanding of the context and importance of the words used most in the works they're studying. Voyant also supports pulling text from webpages, allowing scholars to use large internet databases, such as collections of historical newspapers or an entire blog collection, much more easily in their research.

You can access Voyant here:

Be sure to play around with their pre-loaded works; the full works of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen.
