What is text analysis?
Text analysis is the examination of the written word. Scholars use text analysis all the time, especially when examining source material. In the digital environment, text analysis uses digital tools to produce visualizations that depict frequencies, contexts, and other statistics of word and phrase use within a given text or a body of text called a corpus. Digital tools that perform text analysis allow scholars to notice patterns of repetition in rhetoric, cluster similar uses of words and phrases, and isolate instances of those uses for further examination in the source material.
